The census and future provision of population statistics in England and Wales


In Nov 2013, H&P founder Simon Szreter and current director Lucy Delap contributed a response to the Office for National Statistics's consultation on the Future of the Census. The submission reflects on the lack of historical perspective on the uses and development of the census in the original ONS consultation document, and calls for a much more historically sensitive account of the census to inform debates about its future.
